BROSNAN BEYOND BOND

Many fans nowadays could have doubt he was the best James Bond, altough others really do. But the truth is that no matter how good you see him as Bond, you can’t discuss what a great actor he is. From his first silver screen roles in the 1980s to the Bond-between roles in the 90s and his Hollywood-esque movies from the 2000s and 2010s, we’ll now make short reviews of some films showing the versatility of an actor like him.

Dominic Cooper, who starred in MAMMA MIA! opposite Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep, will be the fifth actor to portray British spy and author Ian Lancaster Fleming onscreen, after Charles Dance, Jason Connery, Ben Daniels and James D'Arcy.

The four part miniseries, tempatively titled FLEMING, will be produced by Ecosse Films  and will be broadcasted via the UK satellite signal Sky Atlantic. Set during the World War II, where fleming hold the Commander rank in order to plan and execute counter-intelligence missions against the Nazis.

With Aston Martin celebrates its centenary this week, we’ll be looking back at the Bond machine resurrection as James Bond’s trademark car in GOLDENEYE.

 When Desmond Llewelyn’s Q introduced it to James Bond portrayed by Sean Connery in GOLDFINGER, released in 1964, the Aston Martin DB5 –number plate BMT 216A– was equipped with lots of gadgets including the famous ejector seat device that saves Bond’s life later in the film. It’d make a re-appearance in 1965’s THUNDERBALL, too, getting the status of “the Bond car”.

Until yesterday, I'd never met a James Bond. I'd met a Tracy Bond, which was nice, but not quite the same. Somehow, of the six actors who've played the character that I've become unhealthily fixated on for the last *cough*ty years, none have ever crossed my path.

Yesterday, though, I met James The Fifth: Pierce Brosnan, and it was possibly one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to anyone anywhere. I realise that some people meet film stars all the time, and some people never meet any, so how relevant or interesting the rest of this post is to you is out of my control. In all honesty I'm writing it more for myself so that when I'm a hundred and seventeen years old I can look back at this and think: "That was a good day. Also, where did this massive pool of piss come from?"

The excitement began when some friends alerted me to the fact that Brosnan was filming just down the road from where I work, and had been seen mooching about in a nearby café. I ummed and aahed about whether to go and stalk him or not, then decided that I had nothing a) to lose and b) else to do, so off I went with a spring in my step and a slightly increased heart rate.

On approaching the area it was clear that this was a fairly relaxed location shoot: all those guys with puffa jackets and clipboards and rolls of gaffer tape hanging off their belts were there, but I could happily walk through them all without hindrance. Then I noticed a crowd of people on some steps, all taking photos of someone or something I couldn't quite see. My detective skills led me to suspect that this could well be where I might find The Broz.

I rounded a large man in a paramedic's uniform (detective's analysis: he was either a paramedic or an actor dressed as a paramedic), and there he was. Pierce Brosnan was sat in a chair six feet from me, next to a man I didn't recognise. I assumed he was the director. I was wrong, but more on that later. They were deeply interested in the other man's phone, oblivious to the amateur paparazzi, so I took the chance to crack off a few action shots:

After a while the other man's phone must have lost its attraction, because both men stood up and sauntered through the crowd of amazed onlookers and into the café. In case you find this difficult to believe, here's a shot of Pierce Brosnan standing up.

At this point I had two options:

Option 1. Go back to work with my photos of Pierce Brosnan and a strange man and feel quite pleased with myself.

Option 2. Take a deep breath, walk into the café and attempt contact with James Flipping Bond.

I chose Option 2, because 117-year-old me would never have forgiven me if I hadn't.

Mildly terrified, I stepped into the café. It was tiny. There were about eight people in there and it was full. But there, right in front of me, looking straight at me, was six foot two of fifty-nine-year-old Irishman in a long black overcoat, dark blue jeans and a blue silk scarf round his neck. As handsome as ever, his blue gimlet eyes twinkled in the depressing fluorescent light of a London snack stop. It was all I could do not to run at him in slow motion and hug him, thanking him for the good times and politely ignoring Die Another Day.

With herculean willpower I resisted that temptation, and instead plumped for the second thing that came into my head, after "FFFUUUUUUUUUU":

"Hello", I said, and thrust my hand out.

"Hello", PIERCE BROSNAN said, to ME, and SHOOK MY HAND. He smiled the smile of a man who doesn't know if he's just met a script supervisor or an assassin.

"I just wanted to say hello", I continued, which was a lie. I wanted so much more. I decided to explain why I was harrassing him when he was just trying to get a latte. "I'm a massive Bond fan", I said, knowing full well that he couldn't care less. It's no secret that while he's grateful for what Bond did for him, he left the series under a cloud and would probably much rather someone approached him and said "I'm a massive Grey Owl fan. Your portrayal of the Canadian fur trapper turned conservationist was inspirational. I'll leave you alone now."

But leave him alone I did not. Also I've never seen Grey Owl. He looked into the distance, perhaps wistfully, perhaps wondering why his coffee was taking so bloody long, and said: "Ah, yes. They are good, aren't they", in much the same way that you or I might talk about washing machines.

He turned to look at me again, probably wondering how much longer this torture would end, and it was at this point that I completely lost my shit. I honestly believed I was above embarrassing myself in front of celebrities, but that turned out not to be the case. Totally involuntarily, the words "Sorry, I'm just so excited" tumbled out of my face like fizzy froth spurting out of a shaken lemonade bottle, and I actually clamped my hand over my mouth before any more inane cockwaffle spilled out.

Despite all the justification for doing so, Pierce Brosnan did not run away. He merely eyed me with a small amount of sympathy and waited for my next ejaculation. I gathered myself and asked him what he was working on.

"It's a Nick Hornby film called A Long Way Down", he said. This triggered something in my mind so, in an attempt to prolong the life of this clinically dead conversation, I replied: "Oh yeah, I read something about that this morning... somebody's just been cast... a woman?" I had literally no idea what I was talking about. I'd actually seen a press release on Monday announcing the start of principal photography on A Long Way Down, but it said nothing about anyone being recently cast. I was babbling.

"Sorry?", Brosnan enquired, correctly ascertaining that I was beginning to collapse from the inside out. "Uh... I read that, er... a lady had been cast in it. Quite recently", I wittered. Jesus Christ.

At this point Brosnan, mercifully, decided to engage PR mode, and began to reel off the cast members who had, no doubt, been tied down for some time. "Yeah, we've got Sam Neill, Imogen Poots, Toni Collette...", he explained. I mumbled some vague interested noises while the small part of my brain that still functioned slowly realised that the moustachioed phone-wielding man Brosnan had been sat with was in fact DOCTOR ALAN GRANT OFF OF JURASSIC PARK. Under normal circumstances I would have gone and pestered him too, but these were not normal circumstances. I had a mission to accomplish. I wanted photographic evidence that I had met James Bond, as further proof to my elderly future self.

"Have you got a second for a quick photo?", I asked, and the fluorescent lights of the café were suddenly extinguished by a cloud the colour of Guinness. Pierce Brosnan did not answer. He looked at me with an expression that conveyed exactly how much he wanted to have his photo taken: not at all. But he didn't say no, and I'd come this far. I wasn't about to give up, and he could see it in my manic, goggling eyes and beetroot-red cheeks. "Go on then," he said, with all the enthusiasm he might have used if I was a dentist about to remove all his teeth.

I attempted to take a photo of the two of us myself, with my phone. The task was complicated by the fact that pointing the phone at myself meant I couldn't see where to press, not to mention that my hands were shaking like one of those paint-mixing machines in B&Q. None of this escaped Brosnan's notice. "Good luck", he said, with no small amount of pity.

The photo didn't work. This was excruciating. As thrilled as I was to be in Pierce Brosnan's presence, I had pissed him off and wanted nothing more than to leave him alone with his latte and his paleontologist chum. But I was determined, running on adrenaline and vaguely aware that I had personally contributed quite heavily to Brosnan's fame and fortune, so by crikey I was going to get this goddamn photograph.

I nervously explained to Brosnan that the attempt had failed and asked if he wouldn't mind if I got someone else to take it. Again, that look. Time - and his patience - were running out. But again, he acquiesced. I grabbed a nearby crew member and asked him to take the photo, which he did with minimal fuss, thank Christ. "There you go", said Pierce Brosnan. "Thank you very much," I replied, as he started to sidle away. "I appreciate your time". For some reason I gave him a friendly pat on the upper arm as he left, like we were brothers or something. He mumbled some words as he wandered away which could equally have been "You're welcome" or "You'll be hearing from my lawyers". I didn't care. I had the photo. I'd met James Bond. And he was almost as excited as I was.

PIERCE: "BOND WILL FOLLOW ME FOR THE REST OF MY DAYS"

In Venice, promoting his new film ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE, the fifth 007 actor and star of GOLDENEYE, Pierce Brosnan, told the BBC that James Bond will "follow him of the rest of his days."

After being cool-as-cucumber about his relationship with 007 since he was left out of the franchise in 2004, two years after his last role as Bond in DIE ANOTHER DAY, the Irish actor also claimed that he could identify with the secret agent's grief after the death of his wife Cassandra Harris who played Countess Lisl in 1981's FOR YOUR EYES ONLY opposite Roger Moore's Bond) in December 1991.

NOVEMBER MAN - Pierce's new spy film

Pierce Brosnan will star and produce (with Beau St.Clair) the film NOVEMBER MAN with his former MAMMA MIA co-star Dominic Cooper.

The Irish Dreamtime production is based on Bill Granger's novel THERE ARE NO SPIES and tells the story of an ex CIA agent brought back to action when he finds himself involved in a deadly agme involving hisgh level CIA operatives and the recently elected Russian president.

The film will be directed by Roger Donaldson, who directed the former 007 in 1997's DANTE'S PEAK, and is set to be released in 2013.

PIERCE BROSNAN BACK IN ACTION

Pierce Brosnan is back in the action genere with THE COUP, a thriller co-starring popular American actor Owen Wilson. The plot tells the story of an American family moving to Southeast Asia, who end up involved in a violent coup d'etat. Produced by Crime Scene Pictures and directed by John Erick Dowdle, the film is set to be released in 2013.

RENNY HARLIN SAID 'NO' TO GOLDENEYE

Renny Harlin, director of DIE HARD 2 and DEEP BLUE SEA, has revealed he dropped out a chance to direct GOLDENEYE in 1994.

"I was offered GOLDENEYE and I was like, 'somebody wants to see another James Bond movie?' I had done enough sequels, " said the Finnish director on an interview during the Brussels Film Festival in June 2011.

Harlin also complained to the producers, saying that timothy Dalton wasn't a good Bond.Remember that Pierce Brosnan was cast as James Bond in June 1994, months after Timothy Dalton resigned to the role during the legal battle which froze the film series for six years.

Still, no matter about the missing opportunity. We Bond fans know how great Martin Campbell did it!

THE GREAT WOMAN BEHIND A GREAT BOND

Twenty years ago today, Australian actress Cassandra Harris, aged thirty-nine, lost her battle against ovarian cancer. She was Pierce Brosnan’s first wife, and she died exactly on the day of her eleventh anniversary of their wedding day.

But, as many of us know, she was far more than just the first wife of the fifth James Bond actor and star of GOLDENEYE. She was, right before producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the woman who made Pierce Brosnan the new James Bond.

The chance of getting the coveted role for the other Bond actors was fairly ordinary. But no other Bond actor has lived a chance of getting the role that has touched deep in the emotions as it happened to Pierce Brosnan. His case was, literally, the Bond girl that made him Bond.

Cassandra Harris (real name Sandra Coleen Walters) was born on December 15^th, 1952 in Sydney. After studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, she starred in stage productions like BOEING BOEING, movies like ROUGH CUT and her own talk-show called THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. 

By the time she met Pierce Brosnan in the mid 70’s, she had two children from her second marriage with Dermot Harris, brother of actor Richard Harris (who starred in 1978’s THE WILD GEESE with Roger Moore): Charlotte and Christopher.

“Cassie and I were rogue genes that just met in life”, recalled Pierce Brosnan to People magazine in 1992. He had a role in Franco Zefirelli’s theatre play FILUMENA. While he was riding his bike to the house of a friend, he met Cassandra. "I had no interest in him at all, (…) but we had much in common—acting, books, music—and once we started talking, we never stopped", she recalled talking about her first impression of Brosnan.

Passions were so strong that Pierce Brosnan and Cassandra Harris finally married in 1977.

"I was very lucky to encounter Cassie and have a life with her. For the things that I lack she makes up. She's a lot brighter than me, a lot smarter. I'm much more passionate and instinctive and will maybe make wrong decisions.” said Brosnan to Hello magazine in 1988, "If she listened to me, we'd still be probably in Wimbledon, and still pushing the car."

1981: Roger Moore was playing James Bond for the fifth (and last, as it was then wrongly rumoured) time, in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. In that film, Cassandra played Countess Lisl Von Schalf, one of the many girls of the film who fell for Moore’s Bond.

Curiously enough, Cassandra auditioned had the chance to become a Bond girl in two opportunities before 1981: she claimed, in 1975, she had been in the castings for ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE (1969, starring George Lazenby) and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (1974, starring Roger Moore). However, THE AVENGERS’ Diana Rigg and Swedish actress Britt Ekland finally got the leading part for those two films.

But even when Cassandra had a romantic interlude with the onscreen James Bond, she would never know she was married with a future 007.

It was on a trip to Corfu, Greece, where producer Albert R ‘Cubby’ Broccoli first thought in Brosnan as a suitable replacement for Roger Moore. He was a visitor on the set of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY where his wife was acting. According to some versions pointed out, the producer said: "If he can act...he's my guy". Cassandra was very enthusiastic with the idea. “One day, you’ll be Bond”, she used to jokingly tell her husband. Pierce also joked with the idea: after a dinner with the producer and his wife, he began singing the famous James Bond Theme and said, maybe for the first time in his life, the phrase that he would say for seven years: “The name’s Bond… James Bond.”

In 1984, Pierce and Cassie had their first son: Sean. And in 1986, the same year Dermot Harris died of a heart attack and Brosnan adopted Christopher and Charlotte, it seemed that Cassie’s joke would become the real deal: Roger Moore retired for the role and the Walther PPK needed a new owner. Along with actors Lambert Wilson and Timothy Dalton, previously touted for the role in 1971 but considered “too young”, Pierce Brosnan was also considered. He was by then a rising star in the fictional espionage world thanks to the popular TV series REMINGTON STEELE, where Cassandra Harris made guest appearances in some chapters, and John Mackenzie’s film adaptation of Frederick Forsyth novel, THE FOURTH PROTOCOL, where Brosnan starred opposite Michael Caine, playing Major Valeri Petrofsky, a ruthless KGB agent assigned to blow away a British naval base.

All the tabloids started claiming Pierce Brosnan was indeed Roger Moore’s replacement for THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. The Irish actor was measured for Savile Row suits (Sean Connery’s choice) and screen-tested opposite Maryam d’Abo, who would play the leading lady of the film Kara Milovy.

REMINGTON STEELE was apparently coming to an end, leaving Pierce’s chance to become the new Bond wide open. But MTM Productions finally tried to resell the show catching the wave of Brosnan’s rumours as the new Bond. Much to his chagrin and forced by contract, Brosnan, at thirty-three, had to turn down the chance to become the new James Bond.

While Timothy Dalton got the role, Cassandra and Pierce were both shocked that he lost the chance of his life, mainly because the press did a lot of fuzz with Pierce losing the role. “There was absolutely nothing I could do. It was out of my control”, he said. “(Cassandra) took it more on the chin than I did. She was heartbroken.”

But not getting the role of James Bond was the least of the problems for Brosnan. In 1987 the Brosnan family travelled to India to film THE DECIEVERS, where Pierce starred. Cassandra Harris started to feel unusually tired, with a strong stomach-ache. Back to London in November, she was diagnossed a malignant tumour on her ovaries.

“From day one, we really had a fight on our hands”, recalled Pierce. During those tragic years, still, Cassie encouraged his husband to go on with his career. He had important roles in THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY, THE MIRROR CRACK’D, TAFFIN and MR. JOHNSON. But he was also taking care of Cassie, who had about eight operations and chemotherapies. “Sean would sometimes play the doctor”, told Brosnan, when her mother was ill. That made her feel good and carry on with her life. But the illness was hitting her hard: she started losing her hair.

In 1989, two years after the cancer was diagnosed, Pierce bought her a residence in Malibu, where the family moved. That gave her a lot of joy and helped her overcome her illnesses.

In December 1991, she checked in Kenneth Norris Jr. Cancer Hospital. She went into renal failure. Pierce brought a local priest who left pamphlets with the Book of Revelation on it. He started praying aloud, but stress made him stammer the words.

“Here I am an actor, and I can't even get these words in the right order.” he told her that fateful day of December 28^th, exactly on their eleventh wedding anniversary. She whispered in his ear: “Always an actor.”

Those were her last words.

 In one of his “longest nights of his life”, as he would describe later, Brosnan phoned Christopher to tell him the bad news. He came there while Charlotte was on the phone. “We were all together. And that's how she went to God.” he said.

In an exclusive talk with THE GOLDENEYE DOSSIER, Sean Brosnan, now aged 27 and following his father career, said: “My mother Cassandra was an incredible woman (…) and one of the soul reasons my father is where he is today. I miss her deeply. Although I know she’s not far away, her light, her presence and indelible smile I can see in my brother Chris, my sister Charlotte and inside my heart (…) [She was] a true force of nature.”

To honour his wife, Brosnan built a whale-observatory with a view to the ocean in their Malibu residence, exactly in the place she was buried.

Cassandra Harris was a key element of Pierce Brosnan’s career, Bond and beyond. She left an incredible legacy to him in her children. A true example of a strong family union and love. Togetherness, until death makes us part. A true example of loyalty and trust, so missing in today’s relationship standards. Any true believer could blindly assure she was up there, watching as his wife said the immortal lines she once heard jokingly in the back of a luxury car, this time in a black Brioni tuxedo in a Monte Carlo casino. Behind every great man, there was a great woman. Behind the greatest Bond of all, there was Cassandra Harris.

“One day, you will be Bond.”

On June 1^st 1994, Cassie’s joke, as a larger than life spirit, came back with a vengeance.  At exactly 12.35 pm, Pierce Brosnan, now dating journalist Keely Shayle-Smith, the telephone rang on his Malibu home. It was his agent, Fred Spector, who said: “Hello, Mr. Bond – you’ve got the part.”

CASSANDRA HARRIS DIED 20 YEARS AGO TODAY

Here at THE GOLDENEYE DOSSIER we'd like to remember Cassandra Harris Brosnan, who lost her battle against ovarian cancer this day in 1991. She was the first wife of the GOLDENEYE star, who has been an ineludible influence in the story of Pierce Brosnan's portrayal of James Bond.

Rest in peace, Cassandra.

I NEVER MISS??

Judi Dench, who started playing the female version of M, head of the British Intelligence, opposite Pierce Brosnan's Bond in GOLDENEYE, said to People she actually misses him.

The 76 year old actress, who remained for the role for the other three Brosnan Bond films, as well as Daniel Craig's outings CASINO ROYALE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE and now the 50th Anniversary Bond film SKYFALL, said: "Daniel's an incredible talent and I love working with him but I still miss Pierce."

Bond fans on the other corner of the world are surprised to know M's maternal instincts are closer to one of his "sons".

SELLING GOLDENEYE – The Poster Artwork

The fact that 1989’s LICENCE TO KILL, starring Timothy Dalton, featured a really un-bondian poster campaign (featuring 007 in black shirts in a DIE HARD fashion), forced the marketing department of EON Productions to create a strong campaign that would establish the return of Bond not only after a six year gap, but in a new decade and with a new face. The GOLDENEYE advertisement campain was meant to almost shout “Bond is back”, and we were meant to believe this Bond was the classic Bond, not redefined but readapted for the nineties.

The first artwork, used for the first advance poster, shown featured a detailed close up of Pierce Brosnan’s eye pointing his Walther PPK, all coloured in gold. It didn’t feature the film’s title, but the 007 gun symbol logo and the tagline: “There is no substitute”. This image was taken by photographer John Stoddart and designed by art directors Randy Braun and Earl Klasky.

The second advance poster was even more Bondian. It featured another production still by John Stoddart of Pierce Brosnan in a classic pose, wearing a Brioni tuxedo, gold cufflinks and a silenced PPK. The artwork featured a black and white contrast background, featuring a shadowy 007 logo with the tagline: “You know the name. You know the number,” and the film logo at the bottom.

  

This poster has the particularity of using two different 007 logos depending on the country. Some versions featured the logo used in the Dalton films, in which the “0s” were bolder and the “7” looked curvey than the new version, which featured a straighter ‘7’ and gun symbol (the latter version remained for TOMORROW NEVER DIES and the other Bond films onwards).

Earl Klasky and Randy Brown also created the one sheet posters and UK quads (landscape sheet) for GOLDENEYE. The artists reworked an original quad art featuring Bond running from a huge explotion with montages of film stills by John Stoddart, George Whitear and 007 veteran photographer Keith Hamshere, and completed it by adding a similar image of the first advance poster with headshots of Izabella Scorupco and Famke Janssen on the sides of Bond. This version was used for the US market and the soundtrack cover, and reworked for the Nintendo 64 cover artwork. Unlike the soundtrack and game artwork, which featured the headshot faces in black and white, the US poster showed the same headshots emboidered in sparkling gold.

  

In Europe, the one sheet artwork was exactly the same than in the US, but showed John Stoddart’s image from the second advance poster. The co-stars headshots remained but this colorized, just like Brosnan’s photography. This artwork was separated while adapted for the UK quad version, showing the explotion background on the left side and the stars images on the right. Both European and American artwork featured a new tagline: “No limits. No Fears. No Substitutes.”

Other minor artwork was seen in the US, featuring short squares with scenes from the film with the same tagline.

The Japanese campaign mixed the second advance poster with the final one sheet designs, featuring different stills of the co-stars and other scenes from the film.

The US VHS, Laserdiscs and DVDs introduced yet another new artwork, close to the US one sheet but with a golden 007 logo and an image of Brosnan pointing with his gun, similar to the first advance poster. Famke Janssen and Izabella Scorupco headshots were replaced by other shots that showed half of their body too, with a black background that slowly turns to blue at the bottom. The logo this time was placed on the top. In European territories, a new VHS and DVD artwork was made, showing Brosnan from the second advance by John Stoddart and a reddish background with the co-stars. Altough, in some European and Latin American territories we can see another artwork which has only a few differences with the European one sheet poster.

When the film was reissued on DVD in 1999, the cover was the same as in the first DVD edition, but the 007 logo was gone and the background was completely black. The 2006 DVD release features an all new artwork with Brosnan holding a Kalashnikov 47 machine gun and a photoshopped montage of the tank chase scene.

The GOLDENEYE logo has a particular story. In early pre-production of the film, a first version of the logo was shown in featurettes and campaigns (it even made its way on the 1996 official callendar), with a red oval circling the ‘E’. By the second advance poster release, another version of the logo was shown, with a different typography and the oval on the ‘E’ flipped. This logo remained for all the following GOLDENEYE campaigns, only to be slightly altered: for the video artwork, the oval turned gold; in the videogame cover, the oval disappeared and replaced with the 007 gun logo on the background. Something similar happened with the 2010 and 2011 game remakes, where the logo missed the oval and was underlined with the 007 logo below (in a similar fashion to the THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH logo).

The font used for the logo belongs to the Matrix Font Family, and it’s precisely MatrixWide the font used for the GOLDENEYE logo and the taglines (except “You know the name. You know the number”). The poster credits used MatrixNarrow and the soundtrack liner notes and synopsis (for home video systems) used MatrixBold or MatrixSmallCaps. This commercial typography family was created by Emigre Graphics in 1990 and can be bought online trough many fonts sites. A non-commercial alternative was created by Jens R. Ziehn, the 007 GoldenEye font, which is a replica of the MatrixWide font, but it doesn’t allows accents or puntuaction signs. And, unlike MatrixWide, only allows capital letters.

A HERO FOR THE WHALES - Pierce against the Iceland Government

We all know Pierce Brosnan is a well known enviromentalist and protector of the whales. We also know the GOLDENEYE star traveled (playing James Bond) to Iceland in DIE ANOTHER DAY. It now seems that both stories where put together when Pierce challenged the Iceland government for turning a blind eye on whaling.

“Iceland is not only flouting the ban on whaling, it is depleting whale populations at an alarming rate. It’s practically begging to be sanctioned.”, said Brosnan.

BROSNAN BACK IN ACTION - Pierce will star on Stephen King's "Bag of Bones"

After a series of dramatic and suspense films like REMEMBER ME and THE GHOST WRITER, Pierce Brosnan is will star in a miniseries based on Stephen King's horror novel BAG OF BONES, co starring Annabeth Gish (THE WEST WING).

The GOLDENEYE star will play the leading role, of a haunted writer who relives the relationship with his death wife on his dreams.

GOLDENEYE RELOADED TO BE UNVEILED THIS MONTH

Some weeks ago, Bond fans discovered a "GoldeneyeReloaded.com" domain hosted by Activision. The videogame developer now revealed GOLDENEYE RELOADED is the working title for yet another game (after the 2010 GOLDENEYE 007 remake starring Daniel Craig) based on the 1997 videogame for the Nintendo 64 system, which, of course, is based on Pierce Brosnan's first outing as James Bond in 1995.
